The Story of Arcado Community Theatre:

In 1983, Myrna Feldman, was asked to direct a show at Arcado Elementary School.  "The Ransom of Red Chief" turned into an entire 5th grade production which began of tradition of doing a musical each year utilizing every student at that grade level in some capacity.

After a few years, the teachers wanted to get in on the "act," and we produced "The Wizard of Oz," a combination of students and teachers.  This was followed by "Cinderella," which was opened up to other of the community.

In the early 90's, the group incorporated as a community theater and they have produced one show a year since then, including "Fiddler on the Roof, ""South Pacific," "Brigadoon," "Hello Dolly," and "Anything Goes."

The goal has been to bring contemporary musical theater to Gwinnett County that all of the family can enjoy. They are probably the oldest theater group in the county. The plays are presented at Parkview High School.  They have enjoyed the participation of various of the community and have had a great deal of family involvement:  husbands and wives, their children, siblings. No one in the group is giving up their day jobs, but they love theater and are willing to immerse themselves in the creative process for two months a year in order to strut their stuff in front of an audience.

Arcado Community Theatre is looking forward to the next production this winter which will celebrate 20 years of theater in Lilburn.
